Just catching you up to speed

May 19 (Thursday) Finally met face to face with David Satterwhite.
He's been part of our life for over a year now.
Spencer and David made friends with Japanese students on the train. The students were headed out on a field trip.

Matt hit the ground running with a conference in Kyoto on May 19th.
David escorted us since we were still a bit jet lagged.
Matt headed into his conference, while the kids and I hit the Kyoto Zoo.
It totally felt like this guy had something to tell us.

Here's the background of the zoo.
 Kodomo no Hi (Children's Day)
May 5th had been Children's Day (a borrowed Chinese holiday). The black carp swims upstream (and according to legend, becomes a dragon). So the fish symbolizes strength.
Spencer loves to take this path home from the station.

May 20 (Friday) Matt's new office at Kobe University.

May 23 (Monday) Out and about to open a checking account and to visit the Canadian Academy (where the kids will take 2 weeks of summer school).
Typical restaurant. Narrow spot, stuck in a nook. Seats a total of 10.
Spencer chose this one because of the picture.

I think that giraffe was telling you to check out the footbaths :-) Looks like he was right!
